About Andresito's 2024 Race Team

Our son, Andres Padilla IV (Andresito), was born with FOXG1 syndrome, which is a rare and life-altering neurological condition that affects only a small number of children worldwide. FOXG1 syndrome is caused by a mutation in the FOXG1 gene, essential for brain development. This disorder brings an array of challenges for Andresito, including limited motor skills, severe cognitive delays, difficulty with movement and muscle control, and often, epilepsy. Each day, he faces extraordinary hurdles that many of us take for granted, like moving, communicating, and interacting with the world around him. 

Because FOXG1 syndrome is so rare, research into its causes, symptoms, and potential treatments is limited. Funding for this research is crucial. By raising awareness and support, we can contribute to groundbreaking studies that offer hope not only to Andresito but to many families affected by this syndrome.
