About Orion's 2024 Team

2024 has brought many challenges but also hope for our family here in Western North Carolina. I delayed starting this page due to the urgent needs in our community after Hurricane Helene. Now that most students are back in school, Orion's struggles are more apparent and persist. Finding durable medical equipment and prescriptions he needs remains incredibly difficult. Our children’s hospital, where Orion sees all his specialists, only recently reopened with non-potable water, a month after the storm. While aid sites provide life-saving supplies, they often lack the support necessary for medically fragile children like Orion.

This experience has highlighted how fortunate we were to have access to resources before the storm, especially compared to the daily struggles faced by families in remote areas worldwide. All children with rare diseases like FOXG1 Syndrome deserve the chance for a cure! The funds raised will support the FOXG1 Research Foundation's Gene Therapy program, which will help improve Orion’s quality of life and allow him to thrive
