About Sierra

At first glance, Sierra is a joyful, quirky, and beautiful little girl. What many don’t see is her resilience and determination to accomplish daily tasks that most of us take for granted. For her second birthday, Sierra worked tirelessly on her gross motor skills and was able to walk, making her birthday celebration truly magical. She walked like the princess that she is, but her effort left her so sore that she couldn’t get out of bed the next day. Like walking, Sierra had to learn to eat, use her hands purposefully, and communicate non-verbally in a world where words are so important.

Sierra has been fortunate to have only three life-threatening seizures in her seven years of life, but many in her FOXG1 family face daily seizures that are not controlled with medication. Please take a moment to learn more about Sierra’s condition and the incredible work being done by the FOXG1 research foundation to develop gene therapy that will improve the quality of life for Sierra and her FOXG1 family.
