About Grace's Groupies

This is our Official Team Fundraising page to raise awareness and funds for scientific research! Grace was diagnosed with FOXG1 syndrome when she was 6 months old. FOXG1 syndrome is a rare neurological genetic disorder that impacts brain development and function. There are currently about 900 known people diagnosed with FOXG1 syndrome worldwide. Mutations of the FOXG1 gene are mostly non-inherited with multiple variants that affect individuals differently along the spectrum of severity. Grace has a duplication of the FOXG1 gene (an extra copy) which has caused epilepsy and has impacted her physical and cognitive development, which means she is non-ambulatory, non-verbal, and g-tube fed. We have faced many obstacles throughout Grace's life to find the best treatment and medications that work for her. We have found great success in using the ketogenic diet to manage Grace's seizure disorder and she has been seizure free for a year! With the support of her doctors, specialists, and therapists, Grace's health is stable and she is thriving. We are excited about the work being done by the FOXG1 Research Foundation and are hopeful for the positive impact this will have for FOXG1 syndrome. Please join us in supporting our scientists who are testing medications and therapies and working toward clinical trials that will benefit all people with FOXG1 syndrome.
